Milena goes FemCities
More than ten years have passed since the launch of the East-West women’s network MILENA. Originally cooperating with cities in Central Europe, especially in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, the network has expanded its activities to cities within the entire European Union and beyond. The international exchange of good practices and experience in the field of women’s and gender policies is essential in order to enhance the cities’ agenda on gender equality.
To deepen the international exchange and to initiate cooperation between European cities, the City of Vienna launched the women’s city network FemCities (former East-West women’s network MILENA) in 1997.
FemCities sees itself as a platform for the exchange of experiences and good practices in the field of local and regional women’s policies.
FemCities addresses representatives of European municipal administrations dealing with equality issues as well as other gender experts.
FemCities is open for cities in the European Union, associated states as well as candidate states.
FemCities offers information on women- and gender-related topics via its website, focussing on urban and European contexts.
