König und König / King & King
“King and King” is a children’s book by Linda de Haan und Stern Nijland which got famous for its very natural approach to the topic of homosexual love and partnership. In spring 2008 the association „THEARTE“ staged the version dramatised by Alexander Gruber and directed by Barbara Loibnegger in the theatre called “Dschungel Wien” in Vienna.The involvement of the City of Vienna was manifold: The production was funded by the Municipal Department for Cultural Affairs and by the Municipal Department for the Promotion and Coordination of Women's Issues, the debut performance was opened by the Vienna City Councillor for Women’s Issues Sandra Frauenberger and the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Office for Homosexuals (WAST) offered guided follow-up discussions for classes at schools.
The target audience were school classes and individual persons from the age of six.
The aim of the play was to fight homophobia and discrimination at schools.
