KOOFRA

The Organisation Against Trafficking of Women (KOOFRA) is operating in Hamburg since the beginning of 1999.

KOOFRA is an independent registered organisation, financed in large part by The Free Hanseatic State of Hamburg. KOOFRA's aims are to support and stabilise victims of trafficking and inform them about their rights. KOOFRA offers
- a safe place to stay for victims of trafficking
- care and psychological support in the victim's native language
- financial aid for basic survival needs
- medical help using specialist doctors
- support and accompainment during appointments with governmental and local officials
- legal advise and support during legal proceedings.

Besides this practical work, KOOFRA is lobbying and raising awareness in the public. Based on cooperations and networking with other organisations on a national and international level, campaigns against trafficking are supported. But also negotiations and cooperations with offical authorities and offices are an important aspect of its work.
